Making a Personal Connection
For Change

Susan Chase, LSCSW, Senior Associate, Administrative Director

Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker, specialized in working with children and teens

Susan Chase completed her Masters in Social Work in 2015 at the University of Kansas, with a special focus on working with children and families, and her LSCSW in 2018. She has experience working with children and teens with depression, anxiety,

self-harm, ADHD, high functioning autism, and behavioral disorders. Susan also works with children undergoing divorce and adjustment disorders due to family conflict. Her years in community mental health provided her experience working closely with Douglas County school systems and community resources. In her sessions, she creates a safe, judgment-free space for families to talk about the challenges they face and how they would like to make change in the future.

Susan focuses on delivering therapeutic services to children and families in a positive collaborative way,  building on a foundation of strengths within the family and other community supports. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, narrative, and family systems therapy to help clients identify treatment goals based on their own values to make meaningful change in their lives.

Susan believes success in therapy begins with building a strong connection with the client as well as family. Susan’s style of therapy is fun, creative and supportive. Working from a strengths-perspective, Susan takes time to get to know her what motivates her young clients to help them learn new ways of coping with internal or external stressors.  Susan believes every child wants to do well and is committed to helping those that need that extra little help to be the best they can be.

In November 2022, Susan was appointed as Administrative Director for FPS taking folding the role of practice manager into her job description.

Susan accepts Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna, United, Ambetter, and Cigna. She does not accept KanCare (Medicaid). She appears on the KanCare United and Aetna panels in order to provide supervision to junior staff. She does not accept any form of Medicare.

It starts with building trust...

In my experience, parents often come to that first intake session feeling at a loss on how to make positive change in their child’s behavior. I will listen to you carefully and compassionately as we all come up with a plan that works for your family. Helping children build confidence in themselves, reach goals and reclaim their joy of just being a kid is what drives me every day.  I am honored to work with families as they step through the challenging process of understanding what mental illness for their child means for them. I look forward to joining you on that journey."
