She completed practica at Awakenings KC, the KU Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic, Stormont-Vail West, and St. Luke's. Kelsey received her MSN from the University of Missouri at Kansas City where she will continue her graduate program to complete the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2017. Over the last two years, Kelsey has proven an amazing addition to our team, bringing fresh ideas and the lastest research in medication management to every case she sees.

At Family Psychological Services, our medication management approach is just like our approach to therapy--we build relationships with our clients and families and then follow those cases closely to maximize outcomes. We're all on the team. That will definitely take up more of your time than a five-minute med check, but it will add piece of mind to your or your child's treatment. We think that's worth the investment and we're ready to make it.

Begin with good communication...

Good medication management begins with good communication between the client, the therapist, and the prescriber. Sometimes clients come in feeling they've been on a psychiatric conveyor belt. My goal is that everyone I work with leaves feeling they've been listened to and understood."

Areas of Practice

1
Children
Choosing to have your child on prescription medication can be a stressful decision for many families. Knowing this, Kelsey will help guide your family through this process and provide education to help you become an expert on your child’s medication. Your child’s safety is Kelsey’s top priority, and she will closely monitor them with more frequent follow-up appointments when first starting medication.
2
Adolescents and Young Adults
Psychopharmaceuticals are not one-size-fits all. When you are working with Kelsey, she will make recommendations customized to fit you, whether you are a pre-teen, teen, or young adult. Whether this is your first time being prescribed medication, or you have undergone medication trials in the past, Kelsey will listen to your experiences and develop a treatment plan as unique as you are.
3
Assessment and Collaboration
Although Kelsey specializes in psychopharmaceuticals, she also considers the role physical health can play in many psychiatric conditions when developing treatment plans. With careful, ongoing assessment, Kelsey may order lab testing, make recommendations for referral, or consult with your existing specialist or healthcare provider, as she believes in close collaboration between specialties.
